Luke 24:6-8 NIV

"He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”Then they remembered his words."

The Gospels capture the most important moment in the history of both the world and heaven—the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. In that moment, humanity was delivered from the shackles of darkness and from a terrible fate—separation from God.

Imagine being a follower of Jesus—witnessing His miracles, hearing His teachings, experiencing His acts of kindness and selfless devotion to the Father—and then suddenly seeing your Savior hung on a cross, suffering immense pain for your sins. What a magnificent revelation it must have been when they were reminded of His words about rising from the dead.

There are times when we become discouraged by what we’re going through or by what we see happening in the world around us. Yet we must remember the hope we carry because of what Jesus has done for us at Calvary.

Knowing this truth, we can live lives filled with peace, joy, and love. Whenever we face challenges, we ought to remember the Word of God, which tells us that God has already overcome—and we too can walk as an overcomer.

Reflection:

Take a minute to reflect on the resurrection not just as a historical event, but as a personal victory. What are the “crosses” in your life that make you feel defeated or discouraged? In those moments, remember Jesus’ words and the power of His resurrection. Just as the disciples remembered and found hope, so can we.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank your for son Jesus and the sacrifice made and the victory You secured through the resurrection. When I feel overwhelmed or discouraged, remind me of Your words and Your promises. Help me to live in the light of your truth, walking in peace, joy, and love. Strengthen my faith to trust that You have already overcome the world, and because of You, I am more than a conqueror. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

John 19:30

"...Jesus said, "it is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."

Jesus went to the cross so that we might be redeemed and restored to true fellowship with the Father. Without his willingness, love and sacrifice, we would be lost.

He endured suffering He didn't deserve. He was mocked, beaten, and treated like a criminal--for our sake. As we reflect on His life, ministry and purpose, we can rejoice. It was love that came to conquer sin, and it was love that redeemed us from the clutches of darkness.

By declaring, "It is finished" Jesus destroyed every plan of the enemy. We received our salvation in full. We received healing, freedom, hope and a new life when he declared it.

What great love! We too can boldly declare, "It is finished," when we are reminded of past sins, overcome with fear, or feel that all hope is lost. We can remember the sacrifice of Jesus and all He has done for us, and cry out, "It is finished" With this, we rightfully place Him back on the throne of our hearts as the reigning King, silencing and dethroning every thought and spirit that says otherwise.

What Jesus did was an unmatched act of love. If you ever doubt His love for you, remember the cross and the suffering He endured--while you were yet a sinner.

At the cross, Jesus bore our sin and shame. He gave everything so we could be free. Today is not just somber--it is sacred.

John 13:14-15 (NLT)

“And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

Before Jesus sat down to break bread with His disciples, He humbly and lovingly washed their feet. By this example, Jesus made it clear that humility and service are essential when ministering to others.

Imagine washing the feet of your betrayer—yet Jesus, knowing the truth, washed Judas’s feet just as He did the others’.

Jesus, being fully God and fully man, modeled the attitude and behavior of a servant. From the very beginning, He knew His purpose and the challenges he would face. Despite the criticism and jealousy of the Sadducees and Pharisees, Jesus never stopped being a servant.

Everything Jesus did while walking the earth was in obedience to the will of His Father—bringing salvation to humanity and leaving us a model for how we ought to live.

Knowing his hour was near, Jesus still took the time serve and teach a powerful lesson to His disciples. His act of washing their feet was a lasting reminder to remain humble and do the work that pleases God. True leadership is found in servant hood. The world may equate greatness with power, but Jesus redefined it through humility, service and love.

Reflection:

Jesus’ willingness to serve, even in the face of betrayal and impending suffering, challenges us to examine our own hearts. Are we willing to serve those who have wronged us? Are we humble enough to lay aside pride and pick up the towel, following the example of Christ?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us what it truly means to serve. Help us to walk in humility, loving others with the same grace and compassion You’ve shown us. Teach us to follow Your example, even when it’s uncomfortable or difficult. Give us the heart of a servant, ready to do the work that honors You and reflects Your love. May we never forget that greatness in Your kingdom begins with a willing heart and a servant’s hands. In Jesus’ name Amen
