Luke 24:6-8 NIV

"He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”Then they remembered his words."

The Gospels capture the most important moment in the history of both the world and heaven—the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. In that moment, humanity was delivered from the shackles of darkness and from a terrible fate—separation from God.

Imagine being a follower of Jesus—witnessing His miracles, hearing His teachings, experiencing His acts of kindness and selfless devotion to the Father—and then suddenly seeing your Savior hung on a cross, suffering immense pain for your sins. What a magnificent revelation it must have been when they were reminded of His words about rising from the dead.

There are times when we become discouraged by what we’re going through or by what we see happening in the world around us. Yet we must remember the hope we carry because of what Jesus has done for us at Calvary.

Knowing this truth, we can live lives filled with peace, joy, and love. Whenever we face challenges, we ought to remember the Word of God, which tells us that God has already overcome—and we too can walk as an overcomer.

Reflection:

Take a minute to reflect on the resurrection not just as a historical event, but as a personal victory. What are the “crosses” in your life that make you feel defeated or discouraged? In those moments, remember Jesus’ words and the power of His resurrection. Just as the disciples remembered and found hope, so can we.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank your for son Jesus and the sacrifice made and the victory You secured through the resurrection. When I feel overwhelmed or discouraged, remind me of Your words and Your promises. Help me to live in the light of your truth, walking in peace, joy, and love. Strengthen my faith to trust that You have already overcome the world, and because of You, I am more than a conqueror. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

John 19:30

"...Jesus said, "it is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."

Jesus went to the cross so that we might be redeemed and restored to true fellowship with the Father. Without his willingness, love and sacrifice, we would be lost.

He endured suffering He didn't deserve. He was mocked, beaten, and treated like a criminal--for our sake. As we reflect on His life, ministry and purpose, we can rejoice. It was love that came to conquer sin, and it was love that redeemed us from the clutches of darkness.

By declaring, "It is finished" Jesus destroyed every plan of the enemy. We received our salvation in full. We received healing, freedom, hope and a new life when he declared it.

What great love! We too can boldly declare, "It is finished," when we are reminded of past sins, overcome with fear, or feel that all hope is lost. We can remember the sacrifice of Jesus and all He has done for us, and cry out, "It is finished" With this, we rightfully place Him back on the throne of our hearts as the reigning King, silencing and dethroning every thought and spirit that says otherwise.

What Jesus did was an unmatched act of love. If you ever doubt His love for you, remember the cross and the suffering He endured--while you were yet a sinner.

At the cross, Jesus bore our sin and shame. He gave everything so we could be free. Today is not just somber--it is sacred.

Matthew 26:14-16

"14 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on, Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Leading up to the most important moment in human history, Jesus was betrayed. Many have debated Judas's actions and questioned why he chose to turn against Jesus. Was it just for the money, or had he stopped believing in Jesus and His divine mission?

It was never recorded that Judas had a heart-to-heart with Jesus to express any concerns or donuts. Sadly, his heart turned in the wrong direction, opening the door for the enemy to enter. Despite all he had witnessed--the miracles, the teachings, the love--it didn't matter in that moment.

In silence, betrayal was plotted. The disciples had no idea that someone they walked with daily could commit such a disgraceful act. Judas's loyalty and trust were ultimately misplaced. Yet, Jesus's love for Judas never wavered, even though He knew Judas would betray Him--for thirty pieces of silver and a kiss.

Sometimes, we, too, commit acts that go against our Faith. This happens when we choose comfort, pride, or idolization of what we have acquired over Him. But thank God for His grace--it remains unmatched and covers a multitude of our sins.

We all fall short at some point in our walk. Our responsibility is to go to our Father, repent, and turn from those sinful actions. Jesus longs for us to come to Him, to lay down our burdens, fears, and anxieties so He can speak words of life over us.

As we reflect on Jesus's love, Let's remember that nothing is worth losing—our peace or silencing the Word that anchors our souls.
