Humility Matters

Writer: Latisha LambertLatisha Lambert

1 Peter 5:6-7

"Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

This scripture is a powerful call to action and a promise from God. To see His promises manifest in our lives, we must first take an essential step toward humility.

As believers, we are encouraged to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. This is a profound act of faith. When we humble ourselves, we acknowledge that He is in control and choose to submit to His ways. In doing so, we release burdens we may not even realize we are carrying.

Humility is key to our daily submission to God. It signifies our willingness to wait on His guidance rather than making decisions in our own limited strength. Instead of treating submission as a last resort, we embrace it as our only option, boldly resting under His hand.

This scripture also reveals the divine protection that only God can provide. His mighty hand is not just a place of submission but also of safety. When we recognize that God knows best, we stop resisting His will and joyfully submit to the One who is all-knowing, all-seeing, ever-present, and all-powerful.

There is a perfect timing for God's exaltation of His sons and daughters. Humbling ourselves is an act of trust in His divine schedule. God often uses waiting seasons to refine us, shaping us into who He has called us to be.

Before God exalts us, He first proves us. We cannot expect Him to raise us up if we are unwilling to submit and follow Him in loving obedience. If you are in a season of waiting, seeking God’s approval for something in your life, begin with submission. Lean on the Holy Spirit to guide you, and trust that His process is preparing you for His perfect plan.

The beauty of it all is God's unmatched love. He doesn’t want us to be weighed down by anxiety and fear—He desires to deliver us from them. We don’t have to carry our burdens alone; we can cast them on Jesus!

Beloved, this is a win-win situation for every believer. Let us run to God with all humility, submit to our Father's wisdom, and watch as He lifts our burdens and exalts us in due time.
