"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." 2 Chronicles 16:9

Merriam-Webster defines support system: as a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support. In trying times, we all would like to rely on a stable support system. A godly network of believers, family and friends to help us through our tough days. Receiving support from those you love is priceless and we all crave their constant reassurance of being a present help to our cause.

Like the people we run to for reasurrance, we have a heavenly Father that provides the greatest support. He will open the right doors and send the right people to aid what he is calling you to do. At times you may feel all alone in your quest but you are not alone. He has given you a support system within himself and the people that he has surrounded you with. If you lack a support system, he will bring in the reinforcements to aid everything you asked him for.

Mark 6:1-5 1Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. 2 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! 3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.4 But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

People will be offended by your growth. Whether it be in ministry, the marketplace or just in life. However, that should never stop you from being all that God has called you to be. Jesus boldly stated that a “Prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house”. Because of the limitations that they placed on him; they were not able to witness the awesome power of God like the neighboring towns.

They were so stuck on seeing him has a Carpenter that they missed seeing him as the Savior. Oddly enough, they were too close to really see Jesus. When people get stuck seeing you just one way, they forfeit the chance of experiencing the blessing you carry. The Bible states that Jesus could do ‘no mighty works’ except lay hands on a few and healed them. Unfortunately, their lack of acceptance resulted in a missed opportunity to witness God’s power among them.

Everyone will not be quick to believe in you or what God is calling you to do. Yet, it doesn’t nullify the fact that you are called. Your support may not come from the people that you expect but, God will always send those to help what he has put in motion. God has placed something inside of you that cannot be denied. To all those that believe, he has given his Holy Spirit to do great things so that HE may get ALL the Glory. Your gifts, talents and passions are to advance God’s agenda. If you stay true to the call, remain humble and let God lead, there is nothing you won’t be able to accomplish with him on your side.

Mark 6:1-6

1Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.

Jesus grew up in a family. He had parents, siblings, friends and neighbors. Although the Bible does not go into any great detail about his childhood, Luke chapter 2:39-52 depicts a young vibrant 12-year old Jesus filled with knowledge and wisdom sharing kingdom truths. Yet, when he officially began his ministry as an adult, Jesus was not embraced by all.

When he taught in the synagogue of his own country, his understanding of the scriptures was unparallel to the point of astonishment. He was acknowledged as a mere man having wisdom that afforded him the ability to perform mighty works. Yet, in his hometown they couldn’t get pass the fact that he was a just a carpenter that they all witnessed growing up over the years.

They only saw him as the Son of Mary and refused to consider him anything more than that. With all the personal exposure that they had with Jesus; the light of their understanding was limited. It was impossible for them to grasp the idea that there was something divinely unique about him.

Jesus didn’t stop being Jesus. He had one mission in mind and a purpose to fulfill in the earth. He came to show the love of his Father and die for the “Whosoever” that decided to believe him that they may attain eternal life. His purpose outweighed the doubters, nay-sayers, troublemakers and persecutors.

He didn’t allow those that didn’t believe in him get in the way of God’s plan and the greater good. Jesus did not base the success of his ministry by how popular he was. His sole objective was to please his heavenly Father.
