What are you meditating on?

Updated: Oct 20, 2020

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Meditating on God’s word has tremendous benefits. If done correctly, we will increase our self-awareness, reduce negative emotions, increase imagination & creativity and build the necessary skills to manage stress in our lives. However, meditation is rarely practiced despite the advantages.

When we take the time to settle in God’s presence and contemplate the scriptures our spirit becomes enlighten. As we come into agreement with the unadulterated word of God, we are plowing the ground of our heart and mind to receive the seed of truth. Once the seed of God’s word is in us we must reinforce it with prayer and meditation. When we fail to do so we become easily fatigued, triggering unwanted stress in our lives.

A major benefit of mediating on the word is the ability to align our speech with our thoughts. We become counter-productive when we confess one thing but believe something else. In order for God’s word to come alive in us we have to determine if our soul is in conflict with what we are professing. Taking a deeper look within ourselves will help us to seek out areas in which we struggle to believe God. Once we can identify our area of struggle, we can commit them to the Lord and begin to mediate on the scriptures that speaks to our situation and bring us back into alignment.

As we meditate on the word of God, it becomes our spiritual strainer. It will begin to point out and capture ungodly thoughts and actions that is contrary to the truth. We will be able to refute negative self-talk and ungodly beliefs. By the power of God we will be able to uproot every lie that the enemy has planted.

Today, God wants you to reap the benefits of mediating on his word and discover real peace and assurance in him.
