Read Romans 8:31,37
[31] What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us? [37] Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].
Our God is Jehovah-Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts! He is the great I AM. The scripture reminds us of the God we serve and who we are in him. If God is on our side, can anything or anyone be successful against us? Take a moment to think about what the scripture is asking. Now, the question is, do you believe it? Do you believe that God is in your corner? Do you believe that he will not allowed anyone or anything to triumph over you? Do you believe that you are God’s elect? Do you believe that you are justified through him? When we begin to take the time to answer these questions about what we truly believe, then all our fears and anxieties will begin to fade away.
When we receive and accept the assurance of God’s word, we are reminded that we have a Father in heaven that loves us and have provided the ultimate sacrifice and advocate in his son Jesus. Knowing that God is with us and standing for us should bring us peace in the midst of any storm. When things come up against us we must retreat to the word and declare God IS for ME. When we declare the word of God and speak with one having authority, we stir our faith to trust God beyond our circumstance.
God is our defense when the enemy comes in like a flood. The enemy use what we are going through to overwhelm us. He will try and create “floods” from our problems to wash away our hopes, dreams and faith in God. They can take many forms, they can be issues on the job, challenges at home, financial hardship, health issues or even broken relationships. But, God has given us power so that we are able to raise up the standard of his word against every flood! When we see the tide of life rising, we will trust in God and not allow the enemy to flood our mind with unbelief.
We have victory and we are more than conquerors over our adversary. Through Jesus, we have the greatest gift that we could have never gained on our own, a relationship with the Father. He suffered the cross for our victory and his blood paved the way for our deliverance. We are not defeated! Regardless of what we see or hear, God is for US. We will not be overcome by the flood of tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or death. He has already conquered all of these things, and if he conquered what I will face in this life, then I stand as an over-comer. We must remember that we are on the winning side!
