Read Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Do you remember learning in school that nothing else travels faster than light, not even sound? Have you noticed during a storm that you will see the lightening flash before you hear the thunder roar? Does it ever cross your mind how much we need light to function every day? What would happen if you didn’t have it? God in all his wisdom when he was forming the earth declared “let there be light” before he did anything else.
Light brings life! Without it we would not be able to function, it is necessary and essential for living. We can agree that its impact in our lives is powerful. Likewise, in the book of Matthew, we see Jesus teaching the multitude and his disciples about the importance of light. Not the natural light described above but a greater Light that lives on the inside of us. The type of light that illuminates the heart, mind and aligns our will with that of the Father. Jesus begins to share a life changing truth, that they can become the light of the world. The light given to them by their Father in heaven will be the influence needed to draw men unto him.
The message hasn’t changed. God is speaking to us today through his word. He wants every believer to be reminded of the power and influence that we have in him. We are light bearers. During a time of crisis, our light must be a tower and beacon of hope to those that are lost and in need of direction and answers. Our light should compel others to seek God because our actions and the way we live is a testimony of his love.
Believers, It’s not so much what we say, but it’s what we do that people respond to. People that are lost and looking for a way out of their situation connect with real people. They are not looking at how good we sound but they are watching the character in which we live out every day. They recognize the light in us by the fruit we bear from it. Our light must emulate the matchless love of Jesus. Today, let your light shine, be a godly example for someone who is watching. They know God is real when they see you shine. #FreshManna #Iamthelightoftheworld #Mylightspeakslouderthanmywords #Igivehope #seejesusinme
