Turn to the Word!

Colossians 2:6-8

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ

We grow in faith when we rely on the inspired holy word of God. Everything we need to guide us on our Christian journey is in his word. When we stick to the pages of the Bible, the Holy Spirit will give us revelation and insight into the scriptures. The closer we draw near to God by faith the more we will be established.

Roots are used in this scripture to signify a believer’s stability, strength and depth. God wants us to focus on our roots. When our roots are strong, stable, and runs deep we become grounded and not easily moved or uprooted. When trials, tests and storms enter our lives, we must be anchored by our faith in his word. When our roots are weak, unstable, and runs shallow, we become easily ungrounded. When life takes a turn for a season we are not prepared for, our faith takes a hit and we become vulnerable. It’s during our season of vulnerability that the enemy will try and shift us from the truth of God’s word and the faith that we established in him.

Today, God wants you to stand firm in the truth of his word and beware of the faith shifters. Don’t allow false teachings, philosophies, principles of the world to move you from the word of God. Remain steadfast and unmovable in your faith, when you have need answers let your first resort be the word of God.
