The Holy Spirit, Our Helper

Read: John 14

Scripture Highlighted: John 14:16-17; 26 KJV 16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [e]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” 26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have told you.”

In today’s scripture, we see Jesus sharing with his disciples what is to come. He assured them that although he will return back to the Father, he will not leave them without help. He gave the disciples and every believer an invaluable gift, his precious Holy Spirit. He dwells within us and reveals the truth of God’s word to our hearts.

Sometimes we forget that we have help. We find ourselves struggling to do things in our own strength and never call on the Holy Spirit to help us. God never intended for us to do life alone, that is why he was intentional in leaving his Spirit with us.

It is the Spirit of God that empowers us every day to walk by faith and not by sight. He helps us during our low moments and encourages us to lean into God’s word. He ignites the fire of God within us and stirs up our gift.

He is our Advocate! When we do not know what to pray, the Spirit of God make intercession for us. He helps us in our relationships, at home, work, school and ministry. He partners with us in everything we do and keeps us on track.

He is also a Comforter. He is there during our broken moments, through pain, hurt, grief and disappointments and by the Spirit of God we are healed and delivered. He nudges us when we are wrong and redirect us to the Word. He is everything God promised he would be. Today, I encourage you to access the help you have in the Holy Spirit, he is here to support you.
