Rise Up

Psalm 42:5 “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him for the help of His countenance.”

The fact about life is that it’s going to be hard sometimes. There are some things in life that we will have to experience. Our life lessons are not to punish us but to allow us to develop our faith. We will never know that our God can work miracles, signs and wonders if everything was perfect in our lives or in the world.

In developing and building our faith, we will run into times when we just feel cast down in our souls. But God comes to remind us through his word that there is power and deliverance in our mouth. When we begin to feel low, that is when we need to take a deeper look and identify the “why”. Sometimes what we are going through cannot be defined by words…but God knows. God can translate the language of our tears, heartaches and silent cries.

He will begin to reveal to us what is troubling our hearts and what is trying to hold us hostage. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy and he waits patiently for our vulnerable moments to pounce on us. He will try to bring oppressive thoughts and false burdens to weigh us down. But, God will not allow us to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices.

The Bible tells us that we should hope in God and let praise arise from the inside. When we do, something happens. Our countenance changes when we invoke his name and our soul begins to rise up on the inside of us. We begin to see Jesus as he truly is, the mighty Lion of the tribe of Judah and when he shows up, no demon in hell or on earth can stand in his presence.

So, don’t sit in “it”. Begin to open up your mouth and declare that I will not be disquieted, I will not retreat and I will not surrender. I will rise up and take hold of what God has promised: I am not forsaken, he is with me and will NEVER leave me alone.
