Read James 2:14-24
"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?"James 2:14 NKJV
Faith is simply a belief in someone, thing or concept. We can believe in something but never really practice what we believe. Our faith should go beyond our words and take shape in our lives. In today’s scripture the author speaks of the importance of our faith and the need for action. Believing in God is not enough, as Christians it is our duty to live out our faith by not just what we profess but what we do because of our faith. The bible clearly states that faith without works is no faith at all. To state it plainly, our faith is dead if it is not accompanied through action.
We have seen tremendous proof of this principle throughout history. When people firmly believe in something, they act on it. Action brings about change, and change impact the way we live. Think of a time when you had a firm belief in something…what did you do? What was the outcome? How did it change you or the way that you now live?
Our faith comes alive when we practice it every day. In order for our faith to remain strong we have to be intentional at stepping out. If God is telling us to do something bold or innovative we shouldn’t be afraid to exercise our faith. Take the steps to do something that you believe in. The Holy Spirit will be your guide and provide you with the instructions you need to be successful. It speaks in greater volume and holds weight when its put to the test. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by, just believe!
