Scripture highlight: Luke 1:46
46 “…My soul doth magnify the Lord…”
Growing up I could remember my first encounter with a magnifying glass. I was amazed at how it worked. Whatever I couldn’t see well with my natural eyes I would use it to bring my vision into focus and zoom in on whatever I wanted to see bigger. As a little girl, I found ants fascinating. They seemed so determined and disciplined. They worked diligently as a team to share the weight of the food that they were carrying while walking in a line to a beat only known to them. I would look through the magnifying glass to examine them closer, and I remember being blown away by what I couldn’t see before…the details! When you bring things into focus you are able to see things that were easily overlooked.
Likewise, when we magnify the name of the Lord, we are seeing God as he truly is. We are being ushered into his presence where we can experience the many facets of his divine nature. We can zoom in and focus on his goodness, love, faithfulness, and find our peace. When we make God bigger, we are removing the limitations from our mind and taking him out of the box we so often put him in. But, in order to really have a glimpse of God, we need to acknowledge him for who he is in our lives. Go a little deeper in your time of worship and ask God for an encounter that will cause you to see him as ELOHIM, the All-Powerful One. When you begin to see God as all-powerful, nothing else will matter because you know that God is in control.
We have a choice. We can magnify our problems and get stuck in the details or we can magnify the Lord and experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. It’s time to replace worship with worry and watch God grow bigger in our lives.
