Jeremiah 31:3 KJV
"…Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with loving kindness have I drawn thee"
Intimacy allows us to connect on a deeper level when we cease the opportunity to spend quality time with the one we love. Time in the presence of someone we care about allows us to see things that we never notice before. We learn their likes and dislikes and what makes them laugh, cry or upset. We spent enough time to know them in ways their friends and families would never know. We take the time to cultivate and nurture a relationship that makes us feel secure. We open up ourselves to be vulnerable because we trust the one we love with our heart.
Building intimacy is important in any relationship and definitely critical in our relationship with Jesus. God desires intimacy the same way we do. He wants to be the first thing on our mind when we wake up and the last thing we think about before we go to bed. He wants us to find the true love, joy and peace that is only found in him. He wants us to trust him with what we hold dear, our time and our hearts.
It's time to make good on the promises that we made to the Lord. Every time we rushed our prayers, or didn’t spend enough time in the word to hear his instructions for the day. We would tell the Lord “if only I had extra time I would .... We move with the busyness of life and never had the opportunity to build a level of intimacy that pleases God.
It was never about spending an obscene amount of time in prayer and the word. But it was always about being in his presence long enough for him to speak to us. How can we learn his voice if you don’t take the time to listen for it?
Now that we are all limited in where we can go and what we can do, take the time to cultivate an intimate relationship with the one who loves you with an everlasting love.
