Read: Ephesians 4:17-23
17“So I tell you this…you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds…” Ephesians 4:17, 22-2 3NIV
To crucify or not to crucify, that is the question! At times we may feel that we should have some residue left from our old nature to handle issues or problems that we tend to feel can only be vindicated by our old ways of dealing with things. We often prove this during moments where incidents activate that residue that causes us to respond in an ungodly manner. We follow it up by making statements like “If I wasn’t saved I would …” or "you are lucky I am saved"causing us to respond irrationally without the use of Godly insight.
At times we try to predetermine our actions to handle situations that might arise that would test our Christian lifestyle. But we must ask ourselves, what are those things that causes our flesh to react? Once we know what buttons nudges our flesh we must crucify it immediately with The Word of God and make a spiritual and mental notation. Our old nature should be crucified while as new creations we should conduct all situations in a Godly way. As we all know, that takes MATURITY in love and astuteness to walk away from a sinful response. So, let us challenge ourselves today and crucify our flesh, and let the spirit of God prevail!
