Mark 3:2-5 NKJV 2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.” 4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
There will always be naysayers that will never agree with you because you stand on the side of truth. However, that should never be a deterrent. Jesus in this scripture was under severe scrutiny by the religious rulers. They did not agree with his radical ideas that jeopardized their traditional customs. Yet, Jesus was not intimidated nor did it stop him from doing what was right in the sight of those that disagreed with him.
Doing what is right takes courage in the face of those that refuse to speak up but choose to remain silent. The silence of others should not dictate whether or not we stand up for what we believe in. Jesus moved according to the will of his Father and by the compassion of his heart to see people healed, whole and delivered. It’s our mission to do the same. When we are confronted with a decision to do what is necessary, we can’t afford the lack of agreement from others to deter us from meeting a need.
Don’t back down for standing up for what is right. When we take a stance, we are modeling the right behavior even though it’s not popular. If Jesus can do it, so can you.
