Be on your Guard

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”. John 10:10

A good thief knows how to pick their target. They begin their reconnaissance work to gain information on their victim. They learn their habits and daily routine to gain access at just the right time. Their ultimate goal is to take what they want without your knowledge. Without a trace we wouldn’t notice that it was gone unless we were looking for it. Depending on what was taken, we would be left in deep distress and heart broken.

Today, God wants us to be aware of the “thief” that comes to steal, kill and destroy. Our adversary, the devil comes not just for our personal possessions but he comes to take what is valuable in our walk with God. Everything that we receive through Jesus Christ, he comes to steal it. The love, hope, joy, peace, and faith we have in our Father is our treasure. He would stop at nothing to see us defeated broken and destroyed. He is relentless in his pursuit and will stop at nothing to accomplish his goal while he still has time.

But thank God for Jesus and his precious Holy Spirit! The scripture says that Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. With the help of the Holy Spirit we will be aware of the enemy’s tactics to gain access to our prized possessions. We will know when he tries to tamper with it because the Spirit of God will alert us to what is taking place. When he comes in to steal our joy and peace with unfortunate news we will choose to trust God and not be distracted by what we see. When our faith is being challenge in times of crisis, we will lean into God and not allow the enemy to assassinate our hope.

God has given us everything we need to alert us of impeding danger and he has given us the promise of living an abundantly life in him. No matter the situation, God wants us to know that he is your protector. We can’t allow the enemy to rob us of our joy, peace, hope and our faith. Ask God to help you stay alert of the enemy’s devices so that you will not become a victim but will stand as a victor.
