Arms of Flesh

Writer: Latisha LambertLatisha Lambert

Jeremiah 17:7-8

"Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him."

"I trust you" is one of the most powerful statements we can utter. Trust is a form of currency—we give it freely but also hope to receive it in return. However, trust is not easily granted; it is earned over time through our interactions with others. When trust is broken, we often withdraw it quickly, closing the account on that relationship.

When we experience disappointment due to broken trust, we must remember that our only true guarantee is in Jesus. Scripture reminds us that the arms of flesh will fail, but God will never fail.

We cannot place our ultimate trust or confidence in people—they are human and will make mistakes. Our trust must not be misplaced. Our reliance on a person, place, or thing should never surpass our trust, confidence, and hope in God.

God desires for us to be completely dependent on Him. When others fall short, we will still be able to forgive, restore, and extend grace. Choose to put ALL of your trust in Jesus so that when disappointments arise, your confidence remains firmly in Him.

Pray this prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being a faithful and unchanging God. In a world where trust can be broken, help me to place my confidence fully in You. Strengthen my faith so that I do not rely on people or circumstances more than I rely on You. When I face disappointments, remind me that You are my constant source of hope and security. Fill my heart with grace, so I can forgive and extend love even when others fail me. Teach me to trust You completely, knowing that Your plans for me are good. In Jesus' name, Amen.
